How Do I Preview a Course?
With 18Birdies, any in-round GPS feature can be tried without being at the course. Here is what can do right from your couch.
Test Round
Starting a test run of a round in the app is a great way to simulate how to use in-round features of the app. Once the course is opened in Course Preview, you can use our Award Winning GPS to see the layout of the hazards, bunkers, greens, check out how the course is playing with Plays Like or plan out your round using Distance Arcs!
What’s awesome about doing this? You can do most of it without even being at the course!
Start a Test Round
- Open the app and tap Courses on the bottom menu bar.
- Tap the search bar at the top of the screen to search our database of over 40,000 courses for the course you would like to preview.
Alternatively, tap and drag the map to find your course and tap on the map marker to open the Course Page.
- Tap Course Preview to open the GPS preview.
If the facility has more than one course, you will be prompted to select the course that you would like to preview.
While you're previewing a course, you can try out many of the GPS features available. Some in-round options such as scoring and stats will not be available in preview mode.
Preview In-Round Features
Some in-round features will not be accessible using the course preview. If you would like to try out some of the in-round features, you can start a new round right from your couch! To preview the in-round features:
- Open the app and tap Play.
- Tap Start Round or tap Change to select another course.
Tapping 'Change' will allow you to search for another course. - From the Round Settings page, complete your settings and tap Play.
No local course? Try a test round on your favorite Major course!
Once you have started a Test Round, you will be able to use these features.

I don’t see my course available. Can you add my course?
