How Can I Start or Join a Tournament?

For tournament organizers, your best option is to predetermine the teams outside the app and let the players know who is playing with who.

The actual formation of the teams in the app will take place on the day of the tournament when the players are starting their rounds.

Add Players to Your Scorecard

All players on a team are not required to record their own score, however, all members of a team must be on the same scorecard and accept the round invitation from the tournament round creator.

To ensure accuracy and a fair tournament, it is encouraged that all players in a tournament have an 18Birdies account and accept the tournament invitation and the round invitation. Once the player is added to the tournament round/scorecard, any other player in the group can record scores & stats.

If a player in the tournament is unable to register an 18Birdies account and join the tournament, the tournament round creator can add the player as a Guest Player. The round creator will be responsible for accurately entering the guest players Handicap Index, for net scoring purposes.

Important information regarding Best Ball formats

For a 2 man best ball, they will  only add the player who is on their team to their group in the app. If the playing group is a foursome, then each 2-man team in the foursome must have their own 2-man round in the 18Birdies app. Adding the other 2 players in that foursome will make the app think all 4 are on the same team.

For example

Jim, Tom, Steve, Larry are playing in a foursome; 2-man best ball format.

  1. Jim starts his Tournament Round in the 18Birdies app.
  2. Jim adds Tom when prompted by the 18Birdies app
  3. Steve starts his Tournament Round in the 18Birdies app.
  4. Steve adds Larry to his round when prompted by the 18Birdies app
