What are 18Birdies Leagues?

18Birdies Leagues help golfers and organizers manage season-long competitions inside the 18Birdies app.

A league is different from a single tournament. Instead of one event with one leaderboard, a league can include multiple tournaments across a season. Players can compete in league events, earn points, and track their position on a season-long leaderboard.

Leagues are useful for golf clubs, weekly groups, local communities, friend groups, and organizers who want to manage recurring competitions in one place.

What is the difference between a League and a Tournament?

A tournament is a single competition or event.

A league is a season-long competition made up of multiple tournaments or events.

For example:

  • A Public Tournament may run for one weekend at one course.
  • A Public League may run for an entire season and include multiple tournaments and formats.

So, you should use a tournament for a one-time event, and use a league when you want to manage an ongoing group or season.

How do 18Birdies Leagues work?

A league gives organizers one central place to manage:

  • League members
  • League settings
  • League announcements
  • League tournaments
  • Season leaderboards
  • Admins
  • Member lists

Organizers can create tournaments throughout the season on their League page. Each tournament can have its own course, format, date window, and leaderboard.

Player results from league tournaments roll into the league standings, giving members a way to track performance across the season.

What are Private and Public Leagues?

Private Leagues

Private leagues are invite-based.

Golfers usually join with a league invite link, QR code, or direct invite from the league organizer. Private leagues are best for closed groups, recurring friend groups, company leagues, or club competitions where the organizer wants to manage who can join.

Public Leagues

Public Leagues are open leagues that golfers can discover and join without a private invite.

A Public League is built around a home course for discovery, but league tournaments can be scheduled at different courses. Golfers can find Public Leagues from Course Profiles, Events seen at the top of the Community section, friend activity, or shared links.

Public Leagues are a good option for courses or organizers who want to build an open season-long competition. Organizers can still choose to remove members from Public Leagues if they choose to.

Are 18Birdies Leagues Free?

Yes. 18Birdies Leagues are free to create and join.

A Premium subscription is not required to create, join, or participate in a league.

What can League Admins Do?

League admins can help manage the league.

Depending on the league settings, admins may be able to:

  • Edit league settings
  • Post announcements
  • Create league tournaments
  • Modify league tournaments
  • Delete league tournaments
  • Start and end league tournaments
  • Add or remove players from league or league tournaments
  • Edit or correct scores
  • Set handicaps
  • Manage league members
  • Add new admins
  • Delete the league

Can League tournaments be Played at Different Courses?

Yes. A league may have a home course for discovery, but organizers can schedule tournaments at other courses.

This is useful for traveling leagues or groups that play at different courses throughout the season.
