What are Direct Messages?

Direct Messages are private conversations between you and another golfer in 18Birdies.

You can use Direct Messages to:

• Chat with friends
• Plan rounds
• Follow up after a round
• Coordinate leagues, tournaments, or group play
• Share golf-related updates

What are group messages?

Group messages are conversations with multiple golfers.

You can use group messages to coordinate tee times, talk with a regular golf group, discuss a league or tournament, or stay connected with golfers you play with often.

Group message options may vary depending on your app version and the golfers included in the conversation.

How do I send a Direct Message?

You can send a Direct Message from another golfer’s profile or from your conversations.

To send a Direct Message from a golfer’s profile:

1. Open the 18Birdies app.
2. Find the golfer you want to message.
3. Open the golfer’s profile.
4. Tap Message.
5. Write your message.
6. Tap Send.

To send a Direct Message from your conversations:

1. Open the 18Birdies app.
2. Tap Me or Community.
3. Tap the conversation icon in the top-left corner.
4. Continue an existing conversation or tap the option to start a new conversation.
5. Choose the friend you want to message.
6. Write your message.
7. Tap Send.

You can only message golfers you are friends with.

How do I reply to a message?

To reply to a message:

1. Open the 18Birdies app.
2. Tap Me or Community.
3. Tap the conversation icon in the top-left corner.
4. Open the conversation you want to reply to.
5. Type your message.
6. Tap Send.

If you do not see a recent message, make sure you are signed into the correct 18Birdies account and that notifications are enabled.

How do I start a group message?

To start a group message:

1. Open the 18Birdies app.
2. Tap Me or Community.
3. Tap the conversation icon in the top-left corner.
4. Tap the new conversation button in the bottom-right corner.
5. Select the friends you want to include.
6. Write your message.
7. Tap Send.

You may need to be connected with golfers before you can add them to a group message.

How do I manage a conversation?

Conversation options may allow you to:

• View participants
• Mute notifications
• Leave a group message
• Delete or clear a conversation thread from your inbox
• Report a message or user
• Block or limit another golfer

To manage a conversation, open the conversation and tap the options button in the top-right corner.

Deleting or clearing a conversation thread may only remove it from your view. It may not delete the conversation for other participants.

How do I report a message or user?

If a message or user appears unsafe, abusive, misleading, spammy, or inappropriate, use the available report option.

To report a message or user:

1. Open the conversation or golfer’s profile.
2. Tap the options menu, if available.
3. Tap Report Spam.
4. Choose the reason for the report.
5. Submit the report.
