Connect 18Birdies to Strava

Overview

18Birdies has partnered with Strava, the world's leading fitness tracking platform with over 150 million athletes, to let golfers share their rounds with the broader active lifestyle community.

With this integration, golfers can automatically post their completed rounds to Strava, where friends, family, and fellow athletes can see their golf activities alongside runs, rides, hikes, and other workouts. It's a simple way to celebrate your golf fitness, track walking distance, and share your game with a wider audience.

Launch Date: May / June 2026

How It Works

The Strava integration makes sharing your golf rounds effortless:

1. Connect Your Accounts Once

Navigate to 18Birdies Settings > Connected Apps in 18Birdies and tap "Connect to Strava." You'll authorize 18Birdies to share your golf activities with your Strava account. This is a one-time setup.

2. Play Your Round as Normal

Use 18Birdies exactly as you always do: track your score, log your stats, and enjoy your round. Nothing changes about your on-course experience.

3. Share After Your Round

When you finish your round, you'll see a "Share to Strava" button on your round summary screen. Tap it to preview what will be shared, then confirm. Your round including your score, course name, duration, and GPS track will be posted to your Strava activity feed.

That's it. Your golf round now lives alongside the rest of your active lifestyle on Strava.

What Gets Shared to Strava?

When you share a round to Strava, the following information is included:

  • Course Name & Location (e.g., "18 holes at Pebble Beach Golf Links")
  • Your Score (e.g., "Shot 82 (+10)")
  • Round Duration (total time played)
  • GPS Track (your route around the course, if available)
  • Distance Walked (calculated from GPS data)
  • End-of-Round Summary Graphic (visual scorecard with key stats)

Your round will appear in your Strava feed just like any other workout or activity.

FAQ:

1. Do I need a Strava account to use this feature?

Yes. To share your golf rounds to Strava, you'll need a free Strava account. If you don't have one, you can create one at strava.com or download the Strava app. Connecting your Strava account is optional, if you don't want to share to Strava, your 18Birdies experience stays exactly the same.

2. Is this feature free, or do I need Premium?

The Strava integration is available to all 18Birdies users, both Free and Premium. You do not need to upgrade to Premium to share your rounds to Strava.

3. Can I choose which rounds to share, or does it share everything automatically?

You choose which rounds to share. After completing a round, you'll see a "Share to Strava" button on your round summary screen. If you tap it, the round gets shared. If you don't tap it, the round stays private in 18Birdies only. Nothing is shared automatically without your confirmation.

Note: In a future update, we may add an option to automatically share all rounds, but at launch, every share is manual and intentional.

4. Who can see my golf activities on Strava?

That depends on your Strava privacy settings, not 18Birdies. When you share a round, you'll have the option to choose who can see it:

  • Everyone (public)
  • Followers Only
  • Only You (private)

You can also change the visibility of any activity after it's posted by editing it in the Strava app or website. 18Birdies does not control who sees your activities on Strava—that's managed entirely through your Strava account settings.

5. Can I edit or delete a round after I've shared it to Strava?

Editing: If you edit your round in 18Birdies (e.g., change your score, add stats), those changes will automatically sync to Strava. The activity on Strava will be updated to reflect your edits.

Deleting: If you delete a round in 18Birdies after sharing it to Strava, you'll need to manually delete the activity on Strava as well. We cannot automatically delete Strava activities on your behalf due to API limitations. To delete, open the Strava app, find the golf activity, and choose "Delete Activity."

6. What if I don't have GPS/location tracking enabled during my round?

If you play a round without GPS tracking, 18Birdies will still share your round to Strava with your score, course name, and duration. However, the GPS track and distance walked will not be included. For the best Strava experience, we recommend enabling Smart Tracking during your round.

7. Can I disconnect my Strava account?

Yes. You can disconnect anytime by going to Settings → Connected Apps → Strava → Disconnect. Once disconnected, future rounds will no longer be shared to Strava. Any rounds you've already shared will remain on Strava unless you manually delete them.

8. I'm having trouble connecting my Strava account. What should I do?

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Update both 18Birdies and Strava to the latest versions
  3. Try logging out and back in
