Coach Connect Feedback Process

18Birdies Coach Connect

The 5-Step Feedback
Method

1

Acknowledge

Establish immediate rapport. Students need to know a human is listening, not just an algorithm.

  • Start with your name: A simple "Hi [Student], I'm Coach [Name]" sets a professional tone instantly.
  • Prove you read their notes: Explicitly mention their specific struggle. If they said "I hate my slice," say "I see you're fighting a slice." This builds massive trust.
  • Be Yourself: Bring your unique personality and flair to the intro. Authenticity helps students connect with you as a person, not just a coach.
2

Identify

Pinpoint the root cause using the analysis tools. Avoid cluttering the screen with too many lines.

  • Telestrate sparingly: Use lines or circles to highlight the exact breakdown (posture, path, face angle), but clear them often so the student can see the movement.
  • The "Feel vs. Real" Gap: If helpful, use the Split-Screen tool to compare their swing to a model swing. This offers instant visual proof of the error.
  • Plain English: Avoid complex jargon. Instead of "early extension," try "your hips are moving toward the ball too soon."
3

Solution

Give a clear, actionable correction. This is the "lightbulb" moment for the student.

  • The Rule of One: Focus on one major correction. Giving 3-4 things to fix will overwhelm them and reduce success rates.
  • Describe the Feel: Translate the mechanics into a sensation. Tell them what it should feel like (e.g., "Feel like your back is to the target longer").
  • Be Decisive: Don't say "maybe try this." Say "Here is exactly what we need to change to fix your ball flight."
4

Recommend

Assign homework. This turns a one-off tip into a coaching relationship.

  • Use the Library: Assign 1-2 specific drills from the 18Birdies library (or your own uploads). This gives them a concrete plan for their next range session.
  • Set a "Due Date": Don't just ask them to practice. Ask for a "Progress Video" after 48 hours. This creates accountability.
  • The Hook: Phrase it as a check-in: "Send me a video next week so I can make sure you're doing the drill correctly."
5

Summarize

Connect the fix to the result and open the door for future bookings.

  • Define the Win: Remind them what they get if they do the work (e.g., "Fixing this path will add that 10 yards you're looking for").
  • Drive In-App Value: Mention that they can book full live sessions directly on your profile for deeper analysis.
  • Sign Off: Point them to the text notes for links and wrap up with high energy.
