Advanced Mode in Smart Tracking

Looking for more precision with Smart Tracking? Try out Advanced Mode.

Advanced Mode is great for users who liked our previous Strokes Gained scoring mode or want full control over every detail.

With Advanced Mode, you’ll get:

  • Exact first putt distance input and location tracking
  • Option to manually add shots or putts (via “+ Shot” / “+ Putt” buttons)

Activating Advanced Mode

To activate Advanced Mode, you first need to make sure Smart Tracking is selected as your scoring mode. Once you do this, you can activate Advanced Tracking in settings:

  • Click “Tools” on the bottom right corner
  • Click on the “Settings” tab
  • Scroll down and toggle on Advanced Tracking

After you do this, return to the GPS Screen. You should see “+ Shot” and “+ Putt” buttons appear, confirming that Advanced Tracking is on.

Exact First Putt Distance

Advanced Tracking allows you to input your exact first putt distance. This is great for golfers who want a little bit more accuracy for their putting stats, allowing you to break down your putting performance into granular detail! In the scoring panel, you will now see a manual input field for First Putt distance instead of predetermined ranges.

Adding Shots and First Putts Manually

When Advanced Tracking is enabled, two buttons will appear: “+ Shot” and “+ Putt”. We’ll walk you through what each button does and when to use them.

“+ Shot” Button

Clicking this button will drop a shot marker directly at your current location. When you do this, the Shot Placement algorithm will automatically assign one of the shots to this location after you confirm your score and putts.

“+ Putt” Button

Click this button when you arrive at your ball on the green. Clicking this will drop a marker at your current location, marking the exact spot of your first putt.

Additionally, you will be asked to confirm the location of the flag. By confirming both your first putt location and the location of the flag, we will automatically calculate your first putt distance.

Once you finish the hole, enter the number of putts that you took to get in the hole, and then we will take you directly to the scoring panel to complete the hole.

“+ First Putt” on Apple Watch

Advanced Tracking also works on Apple Watch! Swipe over two screens to the Smart Tracking screen, where you will now see a green “+ First Putt” button. When you click this, a pin will be dropped at your current location. You will also have the option to confirm the pin location, which will help to automatically calculate your first putt distance.
