What is Coach Connect?

Coach Connect helps golfers and coaches work together inside 18Birdies. Students can connect with a coach, send swing videos, receive video feedback, and review their performance trends. Coaches can connect with students, review swing videos, provide feedback with video tools, and use student performance data to identify areas for improvement.

Coach Connect is part of 18Birdies Golf School and is designed to make it easier for students and coaches to stay connected between lessons, practice sessions, and rounds.

What you can do with Coach Connect?

With Coach Connect, students can:

• Connect with one or more coaches
• Share a unique link or QR code with a coach
• Send swing videos for feedback
• View feedback from their coach
• Review performance and trends
• Communicate with their coach through the connected coaching experience

With Coach Connect, coaches can:

• Create a coach profile
• Invite students using a link or QR code
• View connected students
• Receive student swing videos
• Record swing feedback using Video Communicator
• Use drawing tools, voiceover, and side-by-side video feedback
• Review student performance dashboards

For Students:

How do I connect with my coach?

To connect with your coach in 18Birdies:

1. Open the 18Birdies app.
2. Click on the Improve tab, then click View All Practice Tools
3. Go to Coach Connect
4. If you have not connected with a coach yet, follow the guide shown on the screen.
5. Tap Copy Link to copy your unique Coach Connect link.
6. Share the link with your coach by text, email, social media, or another messaging platform.

You can also connect using a QR code:

1. Tap QR Code.
2. Show the QR code to your coach so they can scan it.
3. To scan someone else’s QR code, tap Scan and open your phone’s camera.

Once your coach accepts or uses your link/QR code, you’ll be connected in 18Birdies.

How do I send a swing video to my coach?

To send a swing video to your coach:

1. Open the 18Birdies app.
2. Click on the Improve tab, then click View All Practice Tools
3. Go to Coach Connect
4. Tap Take Swing Video.
5. If you have multiple coaches, select the coach you want to send the video to.
6. Record your swing using your phone’s camera.
7. Tap the red record button to start recording, then tap it again to stop.
8. Trim the video so your full swing fits within the available time.
9. Tap Next to preview the video.
10. Tap Send to send the video to your coach.

Your coach will receive a push notification after the video uploads successfully.

Tips for Students

• Share your Coach Connect link or QR code with the coach you want to connect with.
• Make sure you select the correct coach before sending a swing video.
• Record your swing clearly so your coach can give better feedback.
• Track your scores and stats in 18Birdies so your coach can better understand your game.

How do I set up Coach Connect as a coach?

To get started as a coach:

1. Open the 18Birdies app.
2. Tap Coach from the bottom menu.
3. Tap Coach Connect.
4. Tap I’m a Coach.
5. Follow the prompts to set up your coach profile.

How do I connect with students?

To invite students to connect with you:

1. Open Coach Connect.
2. Go to the Add My Students page.
3. Tap Copy Link to copy your unique Coach Connect link.
4. Share the link with students by text, email, messaging app, or another communication method.

You can also use a QR code:

1. Tap QR Code to generate your unique QR code.
2. Show the QR code to a student so they can scan it.
3. Add the QR code to your website, social media, print materials, or other places where students can access it.

Once a student uses your link or scans your QR code, they can connect with you in Coach Connect.

How do I review swing videos and send feedback?

When a student submits a swing video, you’ll receive a push notification. You can open the notification or go to the Coach section in the 18Birdies app.

To review and respond to a swing video:

1. Open the student’s submitted swing video.
2. Tap AI Swing Analysis to open the analysis flow.
3. Review the swing analysis details.
4. Indicate the primary swing flaw or top priority.
5. Review the student’s swing compared with an 18Birdies pro comparison video, if available.
6. Tap Record Feedback.
7. Choose Single Video Feedback or Side-by-Side Video Feedback.
8. Tap the red record button to begin recording your feedback.
9. Use the available tools, such as playback speed, pen, shapes, and erase tools, to highlight key points.
10. Tap Finish to send the feedback video to the student.

Single Video Feedback records your coach response. Side-by-Side Video Feedback allows you to compare the student’s swing video while recording your feedback.

How can I track student performance?

Coach Connect includes student performance tools that help coaches understand how students are performing on the course.

For best results, encourage students to enter scores and stats from at least 5 previous rounds. Once the data is available, you can review the student’s performance dashboard to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

Student performance data may include basic stats and Strokes Gained stats when available.

• Ask students to submit swing videos through Coach Connect.
• Use Video Communicator to provide clear, visual feedback.
• Encourage students to enter at least 5 rounds of scores and stats.
