How do I interpret 3D Green Maps?

3D Green Maps use elevation, color, and arrows to help show how the green moves.

You can use 3D Green Maps to review:

  • High and low areas of the green
  • Slope direction
  • Break direction
  • Severe slopes or ridges
  • Potential approach shot landing areas

The colors indicate elevation changes across the green:

  • Red indicates the highest elevation areas of the green.
  • Blue indicates the lowest elevation areas of the green.

The arrows indicate the direction of the break.

Use the colors and arrows together to understand where the green slopes and how a putt may move.

Use the slider to adjust how exaggerated the elevation change appears. Increasing the exaggeration can make subtle slopes easier to see.

You can also swipe on the screen to rotate the green and view it from different perspectives.

What is the Green Heatmap?

The Green Heatmap is an aerial view of the green that shows elevation changes and break direction.

Like the 3D Green Map, the Green Heatmap can help you understand the high and low areas of the green, as well as how putts may break.

Are 3D Green Maps allowed during tournament play?

3D Green Maps are generally designed to be compliant with the Rules of Golf because they use GPS and course mapping data to show green and course layouts.

However, a specific tournament, golf course, or club may have local rules that restrict the use of certain distance, GPS, or green-reading tools.

Always check with tournament organizers or club officials before using 3D Green Maps in competition.
